General Site Architecture - UI Description
These are *very* preliminary notes on how the web interface should look and act for the user...
[Changes to this are sure to come, as they are only very preliminary thoughts]
During editing
The left column contains the complete text of your chosen Bible Version. This column is not editable. It may be scrolled independently. It is used for reading reference as you type the same text into your own Bible into the right column.
As you type, your typed text is continually compared to the original, and the text in the original is highlighted blue as the working copy duplicates it. Errors (differences) are highlighted yellow in both columns.
Versions
The reference version may be switched at any time. Your typed Bible must contain start and stop marks anytime the version changes. For example:
1 Corinthians 15…
[HCSB—]
…
3 For I passed on to you as most important what I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the Twelve. 6 Then He appeared to over 500 brothers at one time; most of them are still alive, but some have fallen asleep. 7 Then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles. 8 Last of all, as to one abnormally born, He also appeared to me.
[—HCSB]
[Darby—]
3For I delivered to you, in the first place, what also I had received, that Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures; 4and that he was buried; and that he was raised the third day, according to the scriptures; 5and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6Then he appeared to above five hundred brethren at once, of whom the most remain until now, but some also have fallen asleep. 7Then he appeared to James; then to all the apostles; 8and last of all, as to an abortion, he appeared to me also.

References and Notes
A reference to your notes may be inserted at any point in the text. Notes appear in the third column, and may be expanded or collapsed on an individual basis, or all expanded or collapsed.
Cross references to other scriptures may be inserted into any note. A note may contain only a cross reference.
Highlighting / Underlining
Two Use Modes
Your typed Bible may be used online (locally or remotely served) or as printed hard copy. The goal of TypetheBible.com is to provide a means of having your own printed study Bible complete with your own notes and commentary, to which you can pencil in more notes and scripture references as you go. Then, since your Bible and notes are stored locally or online, you can come back periodically and update the digital copy, then print out new sections as you update them.
General Layout
Your typed Bible may comprise up to three columns on the page. Column widths are adjustable, as are the margins. For printing, the "alternate column layout" may be selected, which provides opposite column order on opposing pages. In other words, if you are printing "double-sided" (recommended), you can have column 1 appear on the right side of a left page, and on the left side of a right page. This puts the Bible text in neighboring columns with the binding between them, and optionally leaving a wide leaf-margin on each page for hand-written notes.
- Column 1 contains the scripture text—the Bible.
- Column 2, which is normally narrower than the others, contains links to notes and cross references.
- Column 3 contains your note or the scripture text of the cross reference.
Notes and Cross References
A cross reference starts out as a note. In other words, to place a cross reference, you begin by placing the cursor (or highlighting a word or phrase) in the scripture body, then clicking "Insert Note." This opens a dialog box into which you may type your note. You may include a cross reference link to any scripture any place in the note. Alternatively, your note may contain only a link and nothing more.
Upon closing this dialog box, the scripture you highlighted is "emphasised" (underlined or highlighted), a superscript note number is added, and your note or scripture is placed into column 3.
You may expand or collapse a note according to the following
Visibility Rules
Every note may be assigned one or more visibility criteria.
